After
struggling with all the different Jones, Evans, Jenkins and Davies
families who inter-connected with our ancestors, it is a pleasure to be
able to announce that there was only one Savours family connected to
our family tree! All the individuals named Savours in the database are
descendants of John Savours who was born in 1679, in St.Mary Church,
and who married Alice Lewis in Margam in February 1717. Our Powell
ancestors, specifically the family of William Powell (#417) of Eglwys
Nynydd, Margam, brother of our great great great grandfather Rees
Powell, married twice into this Savours family. William Powell married Elizabeth Savours, one of the granddaughters of John Savours and Alice Lewis, then a generation later, William and Elizabeth's eldest son, William married Mary Ann Savours,
who was his cousin, the daughter of William Savours, his mother's
brother. These are the only two branches of the Savours family which I
have researched in any depth so far, but it is clear from the names of
the spouses of the other descendants of John Savours and Alice Lewis
(family names like John and Thomas) and the fact that they were all
farmers in the Margam area, that we are likely to find more connections
as the research progresses.
